Does anyone have any experience with Supercharging their M3.
There are now two options on the market, but want to know what peoples experience's have been like. Can you still use the car normally, what else did you have to get istalled, ie breaks etc, and really how much faster will it make the car.
This clip on the new ESS supercharged car vs a tuned M3 has got me dreaming....

I think there is only 1 maybe 2 in the uk.

Waste of time in my opinion. At 18 grand for the conversion and no hope of seeing that money again on resale I cant see many people choosing that route over selling up and buying a new car.

Can't comment about the E92 M3.

However, I did have the ESS Twin Screw stage II kit fitted to my Z4. ESS support was brilliant once I had their attention. Power output was lower than expected after an initial rolling road. They flew over one of their engineers from Norway to Scotland, who dismantled the kit, made a few modifications to the software and power was as it should have been. They covered the cost for this. I guess that's the danger with one of the first kits. I would definitely deal with them. They have a few agents down south now.

Maybe, but i think it would be more fun to have a supercharged M3 than for example a Porsche C2S which would cost at least £20k more.... with near 600bhp it would put you up there with the bog boys in terms of speed...
But can you live with it, and are they a nightmare to maintain, service, etc?

I have an ESS SC M5 (know it's not an M3) and it's no different with normal driving than the standard car. It runs rings round most cars on the road when you ask it too.

Hmmm any idea what kind of performance increase it has given you, the figures on the net are pretty vague...

Speak to Asbjorn at ESS. Also ESS highly recommended here as well. They have a growing list of agents, like CA Automotive, Simpson Motorsport. An outfit called NS Racing in Edgeware did mine way back (none M engine though).

2 E92 M3's have been supercharged in the UK using the G Power SKII Club Sport kit. 1 lives in Ireland and 1 in England.

The first one was a manual car (648 BHP) and was reviewed in BMW Car (December) and Performance Car (last month). The second car was a DCT (606 BHP) with a different pulley set up.

ESS have just released their kit which should be good if their previous work is anything to go by.

Haven't had it on the rolling road yet. But it should be putting down between 550-570 HP, so with a drive train loss of 15% 468whp at 550. Some have been seeing figures of up to 500whp though.

There's 3 stages available for the E9* M3, here's the link;

Lee, very interested to hear your views on the kit. Did you buy it, install etc or was it on the car when you purchased? How are your running costs? any stress' seen on the running gear? I hear good things bt all from the US.

Oh and costs involved.

Hi,

Running costs (fuel) are a little higher, but that's what you'd expect, but on a run of 400 miles to see family I achieved the same mpg. I installed the kit myself (2 days) with some help from mates (we are all mechanically skilled engineers), the kit is very simple to install and well worth the time and effort for the gains achieved. There's a stage 1 available now for a little less money that's rated at 525hp.

Enjoy
