What a fantastic feeling it is to have my M3 convertible back to standard.

I can pootle around and it's so quiet and refined.

I've had a lowered, schnitzered, tuned up E46 M3 Coupe and that was fine but the convertible should be left alone in my opinion.

What a hassle to go back to standard. The exhaust mid section (joining cats to back box) has a flange that is joined to a flaired pipe so it can't be removed. Had to buy new flanges (metal part with two holes for nuts and bolts to join exhaust parts) as the old ones were cracked, specialist had to remove entire exhaust, cut and re-weld exhaust center section to fit flange and then remount and fit new back box.

What a mission for the guys I left this job to but I have to recommend AH Auto in Guildford Slyfield industrial estate, which were recommended by BMW Vines of Guildford for specialist work.

From what I hear the E46 M3 exhaust should be left alone and if you must have 5 bhp more, then fit racing cats.
