Hi guys,

I have been thinking of getting myself a M3 coupe. I think I probably wont keep the car for very long maybe around 2-3 years.

It also will not be a daily drive as i have my work van which i use on a weekly basis.
Also it wont be used in winter just sunny days she will probably be a bit of a garage queen something to look forward to driving on a nice day.

Whats the best way of going about purchasing it? lease or cash buy?

How did you guys fund your m3 purchase and what deals did you get.

Obviously the deals are not going to be as good as before the economic down turn.
Any help would be appreciated and if you post some of the deals you guys got would be great too.

Not sure on the money front, but doesn't sound like the normal choice of car for a weekend toy type car...

It's defiantly an M3 i want. It's just not going to be my daily drive as my work van is used throughout the week. I want the M3 to look forward to in the summer months of our british weather ( crosses fingers on the weather front ) i dont want to keep it to long about 2-3 years then trade in for something else in the bmw range depending on what is about.

I paid full price for mine! That was the going rate before the credit crunch. If you have been following this forum you will see that people have recently been getting up to £10,000 discount off new M3's. I cannot comment on financing options.

I agree with the comment that though it is a magnificent daily driver and car for all purposes, and it is massively quick and capable, it is perhaps not an exciting choice as a weekend toy.

Has anyone got the link to the topic discussed ?
Maybe an E46 M3 might be a better option as a toy car then for summer weekend months ?

But with all that said if you want an M3 then buy one, they are wonderful cars I am sure. I just wouldn't want to spend £40k on a car that is designed or everyday life with epic speed to be my toy for the weekends.

A 355 would probably be about the same money smile

Why don't you join a performance car club ? You have the Van so calculate the total cost of running the M3 for 2 yrs. I am sure it would be much more than the club membership.
