iv found a very nice nearly mint 02 plate m3 smg its done 74k and has full history. all the right bits
HK sounds sunroof sun blind steel gray with black leather.

bad points

every stamp in the book is BMW but the 1200 mile one is missing i would think that it was done and not stamped but cant be sure. how important is it really?

the silver ish paint on both door handles is scratched and cracked

the out side of the car is so good im almost sure its been painted i only found 1 stone chip on the whole car but if it has its a very very good job.

i can get it at £10600 do you guys think its a good deal?

cant say i have looked at many m3's to gauge the price based on cond, but i am always looking on autotrader, like i said, without looking at them its hard to tell, but i thought you would get one with a few less miles on it tbh or is that being optimistic?
ifs its nice cond, then its a ok price

If it hasn't got sat nav/bluetooth i would say its a bit steep considering the running in isnt stamped and might be hard to shift at resale time.

I wouldn't agree it was steep but sat nav would reduce the wow factor when selling it on as would the smg.

Have you phoned a dealer to check their system to determine whether the 1200 mile service was done? If it's not on a network computer it's not been done......walk away.

If it's the car you want, go for it.

How long are you planning on keeping it? If it won't be long then hang on for the right one - 6 speed, laguna seca, sunroof, hk, sat nav, 6ft blonde.
There are enough about to be picky! (well not laguna seca though)

What makes you think it was done? If it's not stamped I'd assume it's not been done and so will a number of purchasers come re-sale time.

Could ring BMW or go to local deal and check, if it turns out to have been done and they're prepared to stamp the book then it's worth pursuing otherwise I'd keep looking.

There's so many for sale that it's worth being very choosy

Without wishing to open another can of worms...

Check with BMW to find out if it is missing the running in service before you buy , if not be careful.

Laguna Seca makes me want to throw up - worst colour alongside Phoenix yellow IMO smile Giant Smurf!

For £10k I wouldn't be as bothered about the running in service and Nav...warranty is long gone, it's 8 years old and it's done 74k since; it's probably fine regardless and would be impossible to correlate any future issue with the lack of a running in service IMO. Check with BMW head office anyway though, use it as a bargaining chip (along with the lack of Nav) to get the price down even more. SMG on the E46 M3 is very good and a definite plus..however as said there are plenty for sale so lots of others to look at.

Is that really such a problem on an 8 year old car? Genuine question.

I can understand it being important if the car is 6 months old, or even 3-5 years old and has a warranty....but shirley, if its 8 years old, you're not going to get an engine on 'good will' and if it doesnt have a warranty, isnt 8 years of trouble free motoring better than having a 1200 mile service 8 years back?

Keen to know peoples thoughts. I insisted mine had it when it was bought, but thats becuase it was still under manfacturers warranty. Outside of that, why is it so important?

Weird thing I really like both colours and was looking for an M3 about 3 months ago and would have snapped up either colour right away....only silver and red ones were the spec/condition I wanted so didnt bother.

When I bought my 04 E46 M3 a few years ago the 1,200 mile service had been done but no stamp in the book, without that stamp the warranty would have been invalid. As you're buying a car that's out-of-warranty anyway it might not matter, unless you wanted to take out a BMW warranty for it?

Phone BMW and check!
