I have been told that if i want to do a lot of thrashing in my E36 EVO it would be best to swop the shells for E46,is this a straight swop and what are the beifits if any, also i have been told to swop the twin pick up oil pump for the E46 pump is this a good idea and will that be a staight swop without altering the sump baffling.any thoughts gratfully recieved

I can't see the e46 ones being any different provided the sizes are the same. I know the early cars had a few problems, so maybe they updated a design?

as for the oil pumps, i thought the 3.2 was redesigned from the 3.0s, so was good out of the box.

IIRC the only potential week point of the S50 B32 bottom end is the con-rod bolts which have a tendancy to stretch after prolonged high engine speeds.

And yes, the oil pick-up was revised for the Evo, as was the sump, which is baffled.

Yea, if you are doing a rebuild, grab some of the ARP rod bolts.
