I know it's a probably a common thought, but who would be genuinely interested in a new Z4M?

Potentially using the V8 and LSD From the current M3, stripped of some weight (potentially fixed top?) and with much harder edge than the 35si....

I Imagine that in the interests of reducing CO2 emissions across the entire product range that BMW won't be making one, but seems such a shame, especially considering that the majority of components could be lifted from other models / variants, and that they've developed the CSL racer.

given they are looking for 43.6k for 35is... before options.....you'd be looking at a good bit north of 50K for a new M .... factor in emissions etc and I'd reckon the market would be very small... and then there would be the hit ..my Z4M new sticker price was paid by first owner was nearly 49K.... I got it with 24k on clock 30 month later for a nip under 23K....

Good point, I suppose BMW marketing / pricing would effectively price a Z4m out of it's own market. A real shame

As has been said, given that a 35is is around 40k the M divison version would be not viable option.

Didn't they also say that the current V8 won't fit in the new Z4 - something to do with insufficient clearance for pedestrian impact?
