I have just purchased a 2003 M3 with 34,000 miles on the clock.

Does anybody know the situation with the BMW warranty on a car of this age; am I able to purchase one directly from BMW? Will they need to inspect the car? How much is this going to cost me?

Any help will be appreciated.

If it's got full history then yes you can buy a BMW one (it's actually not BMW but is mondial). Price depends on the level of cover and if you want an excess per claim. No excess fully comp cover for a car with less than 60k miles is rouhgly £1000. They don't check the car, however you can't claim for the first month.

I've just sold an E46 M3 with 57k miles on the clock and had this year paid £690 to renew the official BMW (Mondial) warranty with a @250 excess. I don't think you can obtain such a warranty unless the car has had one from the start - when the manufacturers' warranty ran out - not even a one day gap!

I think this changed a while ago, there can be a gap but there is a 1 month period were you cant claim as per the other poster stated.
