yikes

You won't want to know my premium if that's the cheapest you can find.

Tried the Chris Knott insurance scheme on the Z4 forum?

Looks to be about right to me. Last year mine was about £900 (30 y.o., 9 yrs ncb, garaged, central London, business use) with Adrian Flux.

I've just insured the R32 for the year with Chris Knott, who were cheapest by about £200, so definitely worth trying them.

It pays to shop around with these I had a number of varying quotes with a spread of £1500 between the best and the worst. I went with an Aviva policy that gives me trackday cover and class one business cover as well and it cost me just over £800. Car is garaged and this made a huge difference (£250). 41 year old with 9 points, 75% no claims .

The best standard quote I had was from Adrian Flux which was £715.

Seems the z4m is very expensive!

I paid £750, 30 (29 when took policy out), 7-8 years no claims and 9 points. Try using a sports broker such as Richard Egger they actually quoted me cheaper on a Supercharged Honda Elise than a standard Elise S so def pays to shop around.

let us know how you get on.

Guys you should definitely be able to bring the quote down. I'm 30, 1 year NCB, no points or claims and on £660 plus £250 xs, running CSLs on a lowered Z4MR. I guess career and co-drivers may be a factor but those prices sound too high. I had no NCB last year and I got fully comp for 850 and 350 xs. I'm in Richmond these days so it will be cheaper than central London but even so...

A very good place to start reducing the premium is by taking a day with Ride Drive who have an arrangement with Adrian Flux that gets you 25% off the renewal quote. Chuck in your pistonheads discount and you've got 35% off. Very useful driving advice and the chance to put the car on track - FUN + saves you money!

I don't think Chris Knott cover the Z4M, they didn't when I was looking around late last year.

I went with Admiral in the end ... I'm 28 (27 when the policy was taken out), 4 years NCB and pay around £900, protecting the NCB added on over £100 however. I'm not based in Central London mind so that obviously doesn't help.

Looked around for a while last month..

Bell were the cheapest by far. I'm 35 live in London, park on the road, have 9 points in the last 5 years and 1 major accident in the last 3 years. £870 with 250 excess and including extended hire car and legal.

One drawback with Aviva is you have to pay an extra excess of £200 if you don't use their recommended repairers

Still not bad if the mandatory excess is not very high.
