What to look for buying an e46 M3?
Discussion
Hi guys, looking for a bit of advice. Im hopefully buying a 2001 m3 manual tomorrow morning and just looking for advice on anything in particular to look out for. The car has done 65,000 full bmw service history with the last one less than 2000 miles ago. Had the 1200 mile run in service and bearing reacall done and is hPI clear. Other than the usual checks with any car anything in particular to bear in mind? thanks in advance

If it has 19" wheels, check for kurbing and corrosion, they are common for blistering and are not the cheapest to have refurbed. Also check the tyres. They are expensive if on 19's. A definate bargaining point. Check the car sits level across the back axle, the rear springs are prone to breaking. Check there is plent of meat left on the discs and pads. Genuine front discs are £170 each from BMW from memory. Check everything works. Check the steering doesn't make any funny noises, some earlier steering pumps were known to go prematuraly, mine did!! Check for uneven tyre wear, possible geometry issues due to accident damage? Check everything works. Check all the keys work the central locking, they can be expensive to replace. Sure someone else will be along soon with more advice.
