M3 Alternator costs (E46)

Any ideas how much for a replacement & fitting ?

i had mine changed by bmw under warranty. service guy said that was £700 alone but not sure if he was sexing up the price to look better! i think from BM it is normally around this figure, sdould be cheaper from an indy.

just been through this

you can get cheap recon ones for £150 + vat

mid price are recon Lucas, Valeo, Delco Remy around £220 +vat

recon Bosch are about £250 + vat

New boch are about £400 + vat and upwards

i went for the Valeo from Bennetts (check out Bennetts, Motor Parts Direct or Eurocarparts) as in stock...........seems to be fine

On top of above prices you will pay £50 - £90 surcharge for handing in old unit.

Fitting should be no longer than an hour tbh, mine was done today at Simpsons and they logged an hour to do this and the pulleys together
