I need to replace my rear tyres and unsure what to go for.
It currently has continental sports all round and they normally come with PS2's I believe.
Which is better and is there any differences between them. I assume if changing brands i will need to change the fronts as well so what would you put on?

Continental are the OEM fit for the Z4M. I have just replaced all 4 with Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta which are considerably cheaper than PS2's and have received some very good reviews from on Z4M owners. I have had mine a couple of weeks now and they feel very good. I bought mine from Camskill. Ordered at about 3pm and they arrived the following morning.

The Contisport M3 tyres which are OEM are actually pretty good tyres in the dry but are not up to modern performance levels in the wet, the tread pattern is from the E46 M3 launch. PS2s seem to be THE summer tyre but is very pricey. Vreds wet weather performance is streets ahead of both but my compromise was contisport 3s.
Just to complicate your life further...
I run Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics (just because that's what was on the car when I bought it) and I'm pretty happy with them. I used to have PS2s on my old E46 M3 and i've not noticed any difference yet but then to be honest i've not really used them in any situations where I would... to be honest I doubt i'd notice the difference unless I was on track).
Also a lot of people have used Falkens and seem happy with them so you might want to take a look. I've never used to so have no idea if they are any good.

I'm also thinking of giving the Vredestein's a try although i'm still a bit apprehensive. Are they really better than the stock Continental M3? Their price would say otherwise but people generally have good things to say about them..

I got what I thought was a good price for the Contisport 3s £155 ea for the rears and £135 for the fronts. I would be loath to use the Vreds for summer, just don`t look like they`d put as much rubber on the road as contis, also you have to ask yourself, "why are these not used as standard fitment on any car"? The tread pattern as "designed by Giugiaro" also worries me a little. Hardly known for their tyre design are they? Whilst they probably will behave well and indeed have tested well in independant tests it`s not all about grip alone but breakaway, controllability and one big word confidence!! Your life, when driving, comes down to four small contact patches. Why would you want to chance it?
I did Anglesey yesterday on my Vred's and they held up remarkably well. It was a warm day and I could do 5 or 6 laps before they started to move around. I was concerned that the tread pattern on the Vreds would cause them to go off sooner. In total I did about 35 laps. The fronts took the biggest hammering. That said they look a lot better than the PS2's did at Silverstone on a cold and damp November day.
If you want to buy contis then knock yourself out but it is old tyre technology and I re iterate (especially after yesterday) you will never find the limits of the Vreds in the dry on the road and if you do you deserve everything that happens.

It's fine that's how they're supposed to be. Just make sure to keep that groove on the inside of the wheel arch like in this photo from earlier.Should they be different threads for each side or are they assymetrical tyres??
