Scratched the brushed "alluminium" interior in my M5
Discussion
Hi there,
If it's 'just' that piece that you need, you'll have 2 options
1. Go to BMW and see if they'll sell just that piece on it's own - be prepared to be totally shocked at the price!
2. See if a replacement bit comes up on ebay. If the single piece does, result! but hardly anyone splits these trim sets so you may have to buy a complete set, swap over and then sell off your old set to recoup some money.
There are other options, but will involve a different look for the trim.
Cheers, Dennis!

above the glove box - Are they cheap to replace?
Does anybody have any ideas?
Thanks,
Never tried it on alluminium but a little trick that i know works on the clasp of wrist watches (stainless) is to use a `bedded in` scouring pad and a splash of WD40. Gently massage in and hey presto ! If the mark you have made is pretty bad what have you got to loose.Does anybody have any ideas?
Thanks,
The individual pieces themselves aren't that expensive.
I got a quote from the stealer for a complete set of “Titan line” trim 2 weeks ago. It was ~£600, I’d be very surprised if that piece of trim was more than £50. Not cheap, but not extortionate.
Decided to cover my “tasteful” Bruyere Club wood trim in leather, finished it today, looks OK. If you squint.

I had the same problem. In the end I decided to replace all the trim in a CF finish. IMO it looks much better than the brushed aluminum anyway!
How do you get decent carbon fibre finish without using any of that horrible sticky-on halfords crap?BIG plus is it overcomes that damn annoying peeling on the steering wheel trim!
Only have a couple of photos, if it helps.

CA Automotive do proper CF trim, think its £550-570.
Here’s a link to my leather effort:

Finished the centre console today, certainly the most difficult part.

Actually thats what made me want to do the CF, I went to CA and it was actually £1600 to do real CF on the trim! They are decent guys there and we looked at different options from different donor parts and bits they could help with but 1600 was too much really! They DID customise my side vents in ful CF and did a great job though! Here’s a link to my leather effort:
