Who owns the highest mileage E46 M3 on PH ?
Discussion
Wow that's quite a mileage
I'm covering 20k a year and will be rolling over 100k this time next month.
I can't see an immediate change to my income that will mean a GT3 will happen anytime soon, so my E46 is here to stay and be looked after for a while to come. If I can relegate it from commuting then coilovers and induction will be fitted by the end of the year

Ive got a 03 csl with 139k on it.. if that counts lol and still going strong
ON a CSL? what do use it for motorway commuting ?Diff has gone 3 times, gearbox once, Pump is as solid as a rock, been round the ring a few times, SPA , Laguna Seca too.
I was thinking about supercharging it but see what happens.
Its prob not worth as much now, but i believe i was one of the first few in the country to get one back in the day. I drive my cars fairly hard and bits do fall off and i just get them replaced etc. Il prob see if it can do 200k and then get rid off. lol If treated properly they will go on forever.
Mate has a E39 M5 which had done 220K until the engine blew up....lol
My brother is an ex race technican so he knows what works etc.
Next project would be getting a 1973 CSL race car for the track.(hmmmmm nice...)

Sounds silly but does it still have BMW warranty? Do they cover it at that milage?
Ps - whats a good estimate for its value do you think? 15k ?

Its prob worth 13-15k now, im not worried about resale. Ive had my enjoyment in the car and i think it probably shows..lol When i do come to sell it, it wont sell for much i think if i get to 200k.. we shall see.
It'd be a sad sad thing to do, however the reality is that the car is probably worth more broken down as parts
I'd be really interested to hear how you ended up doing a trackday around Laguna Seca. I'm broadening my horizons to take in some more European tracks, but a crate to the states is a little bit more of an event

I've read that it's possible to rent a Yamaha R6 close to the circuit in order to do a trackday at Laguna Seca. One day I'll get round to doing that, one day.

Sounds like a great trip, what was the 'Corkscrew' like?

It's the shipping costs I was more interested in.
About 900-1100 notes for a container one way to Long Beach. It's a 'relatively' cheap option to do if you can get a group of you, as a 40ft container will take 3 cars, so a group of 3 of you could ship a car there and back for about 500 quid each. A group of mates I know were going to do this a year or so back with 3 vintage hot rods from the UK to do Speed Week at Bonneville.Currently sitting on 144000 miles - had 23000 when I bought it.
No major parts replaced, still the original clutch, exhaust, transmission (SMG) and engine - rear springs have both been replaced after breaking but otherwise just the standard consumables. Rear wheels have lost their shine but still great fun to drive. Was going to replace it this year but signed up to the Caterham Academy instead - had to fit a towbar to my son's car as of course M3's are to posh to pull.
