Just getting the m3 spruced up with an alloy refurb (at Renowheel in Bridgend) and detail (at Ti22 in Newport). Will put some pics up if anyones interested.

To keep it shiny I'm considering treating it to a car cover as well. I see there's little on no chat on the web about them - probably beacuse its a bit dull - but on the off chance, is anyone using an outdoor car cover for e46 m3 and if so can they recommend a brand or is it best to pay the money and buy bmw's own?

Cheers.

Would recommend it highly. Not cheap but of good quality.

Just food-for-thought for you sir but i had a outdoor cover on my 6 series when it was in storage and the moisture had built up under the cover and gave the nose of the car `pimples`. I would imagine that if your going to be removing the cover pretty often then this may not be an issue for you. But just thought i'd give you the heads up on what happened to me. Because of that, where i keep the Cerbera, it is left in the open to get wet and dry naturally.

Edit;

Would still love to see the pictures though of your car after all the detailing work on it has been done.

Hi,

If you don't mind me asking, how much are the wheels costing a corner? Is there a drive in/out service at Reno Wheel? or do you have to take the wheels off and drop them at Reno Wheel? Would love to see some photos after the detail.

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated.

I've bought a Skoda vrs for the commute to work, so will be levaing the m3 on the street most of the week. I'll probably end up using it around once or twice a week. I'm not sure whether a cover will draw more or less attention to the car in that situation. If "pimpling" is an issue then I may be just as well to leave it in the open. I'm going to get the most hardwaring wax finish from the detail, so that provide some protection.

The wheels are costing £135 per corner - quite expensive but they are the 19inch double spoke wheels requiring the diamond polish. So I gather there's quite a bit of work in getting them back to the factory finish. Reviews on here seem positive with regard to Renowheel, so hopefully they should look pretty good. They did need the car in for approx a week. They may be able to do a quicker service on less labour intensive wheels.

Hi. So did you buy a car cover and can you recommend it? I've got a flat in Eastbourne, and the f*****g seagulls crap on my black M3 every day so a car cover might actually save me money in washes.

I have the Hamilton classic car cover for my E36 M3 Evo. I needed it as it was in a dusty barn during the week and also being aCab I really didn't want a cat sitting on it and doing that weird nesting thing where they pull at fabric!

I can put my cover on when the car is soaking and its dry days later as its a fully gortex-esque breathable one, and the demo they do at car shows has a pump showing the air going through it into water on some half and half display tube... made me buy it anyway!

Sadly I now need to get a PVC window cut into it for my tax and permit now I am on the street in London... might have to start a thread about that..

Another +1 for the Hamilton Classic cover here - I used one for 2+ years covering my TVR, and it was excellent.
