XK/XKr over a M3 E92 coupe?

I test drove one last week, thughts were that it was refined, it was smooth, power was superb and handling very good as well, stunning shape and I could see myself quite easily in one instead of the M3, big difference in cost though, even low mileage demo's are around 60k
That is indeed a lot of money. The new RS5 is approx £57k but that is 444bhp over the 500bhp of the XKR. I wonder how that will affect the XKR sales.Surely enough the XKR will drop in value as all big jags do. That 60k XKR in 2 years will be about 40k if not lower... going on current used car prices for the XKR.
Really.. a XKR over an M3?
Were you that impressed by the XKR?
I had the previous model XKR prior to E46 M3 and I would be in one of the newer ones if only it had a manual gearbox like my E92 M3.
Sorry to the op for this slight hijack, it's becoming a tad boring justifying my E92 M3 to mates who have E46 M3 especially when we all know they are going to end up there !

Feels like quite a different car; the XK is much more luxurious, refined and better finished. The M3 is much more of a sports car, while also having so much more space in both the car and the boot.
I find the XK too big outside and too small inside. The Jag I am most tempted by is the XFR. But if I had an XFR instead of the M3 I would have to have something else sporty as well.

It depends what you mean by "beat"
A road car is about more than stats, ring times, performance figures.
As a package, an M3 has always been about maximising everyday usability and performance, and is a package that is very very difficult to "beat" IMO, however if being a little bit "special" ranks right at the top of the requirements list, and special-stage-balls-out outright pace is lower on the priorities, then the M might not be the "best" car for the owner.
