Hi folk! I've just bought an M3, 2008 Coupe, just under £40k. I have been quote £775 by elephant. I'm 34, one SP30 (6 points and £60), a fault claim 3 years ago for £4200, car has tracker and is garaged, no commuting, max 8k miles per year, held licence since 1993, full NCB. How does this sound to others??

Well to me it sounds pretty good. I'm 31 and I was paying £700 on the E46 with no claims made etc. etc.

I pay £800 for Z3M Coupé with Adrian Flux. 28 years old, 4 years NCB, SP30 3 years ago, 1 at fault claim (£10k) 3 years ago, SDP + Commute. Given the difference in values your quote seems OK. AF did come out much cheaper than most others though.

That sounds pretty good, considering age, points and claim - but you don't mention where you live, occupation or the amount of the xs.

I insure through A-plan and pay around £600 for my M3 saloon, but I am a bit older grumpy

I'm with Admiral. Renewal this year was 800 pounds (FC, No claims protected, Garaged, No points, 27yo, in Norfolk) although that was part of a multicar policy. Not too bad really.

If You do try Adrian Flux make sure you let us know you're a Pistonheads member because you can get up to 15% off.

All due respect Ash, the quote I received from AF was laughable. Just over £3000 with a huge excess (around £800 if memory serves) and I was not allowed to drive other cars 3rd party.

I've been with MCE insurance for 3 years now, they specialise in bikes but have been by far the cheapest for me and my E46 M3!

My quotes from Flux have usually been laughable too.

Ash.. Tell me, if you're reading, If I call up for insurance will I get 15% off (why do you say 'up to'. does that mean that getting money off is at your discretion) for being PH member then another 25% off for having Ride Drive assessment.

Back on topic, when I had the Z3MC it was about £450 and now with 996 turbo approx £600. 34yo, Protected NCD, Band F postcode. Been with A-Plan for about 4 years now as they're always cheapest for me.

Hello, We have about 50 insurers that we have schemes with. Most of them give good discounts for owners club members or pistonheads members. Some will give 15% off or some 7.5 - 10%. We would always try and get the most discounts as possible anyway. Courses like ride drive save a lot. They will guarantee to take 25% off your first renewal premium if you have completed the course. Then the Pistonheads discount will be taken into consideration aswell.

22, 3 years NCB, paying £1000 for a 328i saloon.
All modifications declared, at an additional cost of £19, included in the price above. The insurer is Bell and my experiences with them so far have been very good.
