Hi guys,

Toying with the idea of an e36 M3. How much should i be looking at paying for a good one and what are the running costs like as i can appreciate when new it was probably a £40-50k car with associated costs.

Any info is welcome

Thanks alot,

6k-8k will get you a good 3.2 Evo and then I guess budget about £1k per year for running costs. Obv the running costs are less if you get someone ( like Phil from CPC ) to look over the car and let you know anything that will need doing / give you haggling points. It was the best money I ever spent as I got £1000-1500 off mine as it needed the brakes and the air-con doing so knocked the cost off along with the usual haggling.

I would say, buy the best you can find within your budget. Be prepared to travel around the country looking at them as there are definitely some dodgy ones out there. The concensus of opinion seems to be that you should expect to pay out some costs fairly quickly on brakes and suspension etc. but as the previous poster said, try and negotiate these off the asking price. Day to day running costs are'nt too excessive, IMO. If you are going to use it as your daily, fuel will be your biggest cost. Good luck with the search

depends whether you want a 3.0 or an Evo, if you are lucky you can get a good 3.0 for as little as £3k plus some change, I reckon good Evos add a couple grand at least

I've recently aquired an immaculate individual Evo for £5300. It's got 70K on the clock and lots of history. I know these cars inside out so I guess I had an advantage over most, when I saw this one I knew it was the car for me.
I feel that I got a bargain and to use the old line; It's a lot of car for the money!
