Hi there,

Had my E46 M3 for a few years now and thinking about going for a M5, but i remember reading something on here about the '05, '55 plates?

Does it make much difference on age and millage of the car? any thing to keep an eye on when buying?

Any help is good thanks

Either do a search on here regarding E60 M5's or pop across to the m5board.com and spend some time on the e60 section.

If buying from a specialist look closely at all bills, not just service history. Also contact the dealerships that have serviced the car...look closely at the running in service date and mileage.

Look closely at the bodywork in daylight and in dry weather. Look at the tyre wear, look out for wheel kerbing.

Check all electronics, windows, mirrors, seats, the a/c and all lights, plus sunroof, cd player and I-Drive. Look at the dashboard display.

If buying from a main dealer what is the warranty status and be prepared to pay serious money to keep it current.

If buying privately be very careful. Does the seller look like the sort of person who can afford to run such a car and start asking about their ownership experience.

Finally get your hands on an old copy of BMW car magazine who published an E60 M5 buying Guide (July 2008).

Highly recommend getting one with a BM warranty, age does not matter.
