E46 18" non-original tyre sizes - pressures?

Hi all,
Been hunting around with no joy for advice on this... anyone got any ideas on pressures for 225/40 (F) and 255/35 (R) tyres on 18" OEM wheels? Can't work out if I should be inflating to the 18" recommendations (for 225/45, 255/40), which are slightly larger profile than what I've got, or 19" (225/40, 255/35) - which are the same profile, but I'm on 18" NOT 19"...?
Anyone got anyyhing similar? What do you inflate to?
