Afternoon guys,

Its great that BMW continues to provide much smaller car companies with its engines which make them into works of art. For example; Weismann, DeTomaso and even the legendary McLaren to name a few.

In your opinion what is the greatest M-Powered car of all time?

BMW’s M division have also made some fantastic cars over the years, the M1, and even the E30 M3 are probably the most famous and popular cars.

And what is the greatest M-Power car of all time.

Well I'd vote for the original s50 engines M Coupe, mainly because I have one wink and that they were an out of hours project by M engineers, not built by accountants. I proper mad moment by BMW and I love them for it.

If I take my rose tinted glasses off though, it has to be the McLaren F1 surely?

Luke.

McLaren F1 costing as much as it did with all the crazy runnign costs. It's an amazing work of engineering, but I wouldn;t say the best M power to date.

I'm biased but to me making a 4 door family saloon travel in excess of 200mph and leave Ferarri and Lamborghini in it's wake is a MUCH more impressive acomplishment... then I'm biased of course!

Another vote for the Z3 M Coupe, due to its maddness, closely followed by E46 CSL?

Very predictable for someone to say the E30 M3 even if Ive got one but my choice would be the S54 M coupe. I know its not as much of an animal as the S50 but it has best of both worlds, loads of power when you want it but also DSC when you need it. Its a real pity that people didnt think the same when they came out or they may have been a few more to choose from now.
I'd also say, for no other reason bu I love them, the E34 Cecotto.

I think if I was listing BMW-only road going M-power cars into a top 3 lust list it would look something like this:

E30 M3
E34 M5
BMW M1

Race cars

M1 Procar
McLaren F1 LM/GTR
S42 engined touring car

Oh yes!

Hmmm, I'd have to add an E46 M3 CSL and E39 M5 into the first list to make a top 5 lust list!

E28 M5 was always fun.

I like all of them, but best to own has been the E92 M3. So much better than expected. Has CSL precision and grunt but E39 comfort.

The Ascari A10 with the n/a S62 engine producing 625 bhp should be mentioned too!

E30 M3 Evo or E28 M5,both are fast enough and make you feel connected with the road.

Forget 500bhp or even 400-utterly pointless now.

I`ll never understand why people say things like this???? In what world are you living because it must be very different to mine?

I utilise the full 338bhp on the Z4m at every available opportunity and there are many. I don`t live in the city but it`s not as if I live in the wilds of Scotland either. Why would 400/500 bhp be pointless? Am thinking of going the V10 M6 route and can forsee myself using full fat on that when conditions allow.

Long live M Power!!

It all comes down to the perception of speed, your M6 may get you to 150 twice as quick as the E30 M3 but was it any more satisfying getting there??Furthermore which car will be more engaging and memorable down that country road at 60 mph?

The third option - E30 M3 with 500hp.

Had a blast over to Manchester today on the Sheffield/Manchester Supercar Sunday in my E30 M3. Great day out.... lots of Italian Supercar Royalty, Porsche, Lotus, Noble etc.... but almost everyone took a picture of mine and came over to chat about it. I wouldn't go as far as saying I wouldn't swap it for any of the above but I absolutely love it and over The Snake Pass it was more than holding it's own.
