Using the built in bluetooth car phone system is next to useless on the motorway as people can't hear me or when they can say that i sound like i'm in a wind tunnel!

I have tried a couple of bluetooth headsets which cut out the noise for the other party but sometimes aren't loud enough for me to hear everything they are saying.

Would welcome recommendations?

Cheers

Ben

My Bluetooth is fine in a roadster, main problem is it really needs texts deleted from phone to allow it to communicate quicker than about 1200 baud.

any dust/crap on the unit on steering column?

apparently if you turn the volume up on the steering wheel it also increases the sensitivity of the microphone - that's what a dealer told me. Helped in mine, but you have to put up with being blasted when people talk to you...

I found something similar in mine ... I then found that when I increased the call volume on the phone handset then the call volume played through the speaker system in the car also increased.

It's a bit fiddly as the ideal volume on my phone when not used in the car is about half-way, but when in the car it needs cranking up to the max.

Edit: Sorry, just realised you were talking about the caller hearing you, so the above isn't relevant.

Have you tried leaning forward slightly so that you are closer to the mike?

I have tried leaning forwards quite a bit which does help, but not the most comfortable when you are chatting away quite a bit...

I've found the same problem in my Z4C 3.0si. Even if I lean forwards and shout people complain that they can't hear me at anything above 60mph, and that's with the volume on full (just in case it affects the mike as well). Is the microphone the raised blip just behind the steering wheel? Maybe I should put a hoover on it or something smile I've even started using the wired handsfree that I got free with my phone, which seems to work better - not what you'd expect from a factory fit optional extra..

Yes, it is the blip. A vacuum might help, but I think we all have the same problem. I always lean forward.

Rubbish design then! A bluetooth phone facility that even if you lean forward and shout you can't use at 70mph. And this is from a country where cruising at 130mph on the motorway is normal...

Odd, no one has complained about mine yet and have regularly used it on the motorways... must be lucky or the people on the other end weren't listening anyway!

No issue on mine. Sure you can tell you're in the car. But never had issues.

Thanks guys. I think mine might need to be introduced to a hoover...
