E46 M3 IDLE BLIPS
Discussion
Hello all,
I have a 55 Plate M3 that i've owned for 16 Months without any Hick-ups but on saturday at the traffic lights the revs dropped to about 500ish then recovred back to 900/1000rpm, This happened another 2x that day but not once on sunday. Prior to this it has happened once before but i thought nothing of it. No engine management lights came on tho.
I know one other guy on this Forum has had the exact same problem but there was no update after he had it into to BMW, i've e mailed him but no answer yet.
My Dad has all the Diagnostics equipment along with 35Years experience in Crypton Tuning (no good on mine like) so he's not behind the door on these things but if someone has had the exact same problem it could save time on all the guess work!
1st job is cleaning the throttle body out i think he said if no fault codes come up.

It did it both with air con on/off.
Its not happened since, the other times it has happened it was a very hot day but dont know why that would make a difference.
I'm having the throttle body cleaned out today, but I'll just have to wait and see if it comes back with it been so Intermittent.
The guy who had the same problem replied to my e-mail yesterday and said BMW could'nt find anything, but he put it down to bad fuel as a possibility.
i think it is guess work wherever you go including BMW - luckily for me with my Dads equipment i only have to buy the parts not pay for the investigation work.
