I'm starting to find it fairly par for the course that whenever I take my E46 M3 out for a spin (which is about once a week), there is some kind of 'incident' with another non-M3 driver - usaully an Astra driver.

Yeserday for instance, I was driving quite normally down a residential street and deviated from my course to go round a pothole. There was a car coming in the other direction but I got back on course with a good 5 seconds before passing the other car (an Astra convertible). The driver of that car however thought I was perhaps being aggresive or challenging him to a game of chicken, and some verbals ensued from him.

A couple of weeks before, I was driving down a country lane at the speed limit only to be overtaken on a blind bend. An Astra estate that time.

The list goes on. What is it with Astra drivers and M3s?

I drive my M3 prety much every day and never had an incident to remember with an Astra.

There's plenty of idiots on the road and they drive all sorts of cars so no point singling out any particular model or marque for some kind of witch hunt or badge snobbery thread. Just accept it and chill out chap.

I used to love hunting down M3s in my Evo.....blew them into the weeds on a regular basis, but very strictly only if they were the deserving type.

Not all M3 drivers are prats of course, but lots of prats do drive them in my experience....or rather, they try to drive them.....show them a bend and it's goodnight Vienna!

Its quite funny what a car can do to other drivers. In my short time of owning the M5 I find that its drivers of other BMW's who are the worst for wanting some fun. Me, I just sit there knowing that with 400bhp up front there's just no point in bothering.

They might just be trying to get you to use the loud pedal to unleash a wonderful torrent of V8 goodness.

I have noticed in the 123d that various VAG TDi things like to drive up my arse, but then this might be true whatever car i had.

I was making fairly rapid progress down a country b road at 100 leptons or thereabouts, and there was a modified scooby about (not exaggerating) 3 inches behind me. Yes mate, your car is faster than a diesel BMW and everyone knows it already!

.... and a lot of heroes drive Evos wink

I put M3 drivers into 2 groups. The ones that driver them BECAUSE they are an expensive, flash, BMW, and the ones that enjoy driving them DESPITE them being expensive, flash, BMWs.

If someone's driving like a div behind me i tend to just let them go nowadays, an audi TT was once braking his neck to get round me on some bypasses and i thought i cant be arsed, best decision i ever made because someone pulled out on roundabout and he crashed into it cos he was going too fast. I thought that could have easily been my pride and joy over there.

Point is no matter how good a driver you may think you are or how fast your car is you never know what numpties are lurking round the corner ready to ruin your day!!

This thread is precisely the reason why ill never own a E46 M3 or a Evo of any sorts.

It's funny that M3's drivers never seem to want to "kill" an evo but plenty of evo drivers seem to have something to prove....Whilst I had my e46 and e92 M's I would get baited on a regular basis, pisses them off even more when you don't play IMHO.

Then you my friend are missing out on one of the best (daily) drivers cars ever made in the case of the m3 anyway...probably right to snub the Evo.

I've had two e46 M3.Decided I'd get rid three years ago when I saw the second M3 with its driver wearing a cap with fogs on.FWIW M3's are definitely better cars than evos.I've had two of them as well. You just feel more smug in an M3 - sort of an undefinable thing. But it's close!

Is that a typo? Did you mean how comfortable and SNUG in the M3 rather than an Evo? ..... I hope so.

I can honestly say I never have people goad me. They normally come flying up being me then back off.

I dont own the fastest car in the world and it certainly doesnt seem to attract attention.

There must be another reason for all this willy waving buisness.
