OK - so here's a question -

I've just had my E39 M5 on a rolling road.

It shows 399 lbs/ft torque - happy with that!smile

but it hit the rev limiter at 5400 rpm for some reason!

The operator believes the ECU is protecting the car because the front wheels arent turning, its restricting rpm short of normal limits.

Q: is there a way to override this? confused

Q: it shows 387 bhp at 5400 rpm. Extrapolated up the operator 'reckons' its producing 415-420bhp. I've not seen E39 M5 power curves enough to judge if that seems sensible or not, at what RPM would the curve normally peak? If I knew that, I could probably follow the curve to its likely top spot - the BHP delivery is very linear - its basically a straight line bottom left to top right!

Any help appreciated.....

Cheers!smile

For the record mine did 411bhp and 375lbft on a very realistic rr'd with just a remap.

Thanks! - I'll see if I can get it in again - prob on friday. Will post up the results. Better not get my hopes up too much but I'm hoping for 410 plus.smile

Anything north of 400 has to = happy owner of any E39! smile

Full RPM run done yesterday! - 414bhp and 387 lbs/ft. I guess the atmospheric conditions account for the reduction in Torque vs tuesday, but I'm happy nevertheless!!

Cat back Milltek - which I have grown to love more and more and more. A cold winters morning on empty roads in Ashdown Forest is aural bliss!cloud9

DMS remap.

Thats it - its been very well looked after all its life and was always healthy before the remap - but it definitely freed up a few extra bhp. I won't be seeking any more power - it drives like a dream - but there are a few odds and sods I still want to do to it - I'll probably go for coilovers one day!
