These brakes really are the best modification that I have ever done to a car. They are so much better than the standard items, and can withstand endless laps on the track without a grumble ..... BUT

I instantly adjusted to their nature, and their power, by modulating the inputs to the pedal, however when the GF uses the car (or anyone else for that matter), braking can be alarmingly sharp. I must admit that I struggle in stop/start traffic.

Is there any way to alter the amount of servo assistance for a less "immediate" braking application, without reducing the ultimate power of the brakes?

Has anyone else with APs had similar experiences?

my next mod really needs to be a BBK, i dont know how well my CSL ones will hold up to 450bhp, admitted on the stock car i found them pretty awesome.

It'll sicken you to hear that I got mine at a massive bargain knockdown price. A friend of mine works in a local main agent that has a BMW franchise as part of their portfolio. They took a CSL in with these brakes fitted, however the discs were trashed. I got all four calipers, hoses, brackets and fixings for £500 - sadly they binned the bells when they binned the rotors. With a bit of window shopping, I was able to buy the bells, rotors and fixings for about £700 IIRC. Plus a few sundrys, I had the AP brakes fitted to both ends of my car for less than £1300.

I'd highly recommend these guys for all your braking needs, but would also keep your eyes peeled in the classifieds for AP brake kits / calipers, even if it means you'll need to write a shopping list for other parts. The 5575 calipers are common across formula brake conversions for many cars / applications.

Any answer on my original question anyone??

Forgot to mention, that I got nearly £300 back off of ebay for my old discs and calipers.

You could try a different pad compound perhaps?

Otherwise, I think the answer is to tell people not to press the pedal so firmly.

Yep, exactly the same experience. My missus rarely drives my m3 but she always forgets how powerful the 6 pot APs are and nearly throws me through the windscreen the first time she touches the middle peddle. She's fine after that though.
When I drive the car I don't even notice it now, it just seems normal.

I've never really looked into 'solving the problem' as it's not a big deal for me because I drive 99% of time. Not much help, sorry.

Wouldn't you be better off keeping them for refitting prior to selling the car and then selling the APs?

It was an option I'd considered, but replenishing the fun funds was a priority (those old brakes paid for a day out at Cadwell Park), and I've a lot more plans for my car in the future than will mean it will never be "factory" again evil
