Hi folks!

I'm having a big problem with this beast......I like it too much!

I bought it a year ago, basically to get it "out of my system".....the intention was to run it for a year, then move on......how fking naive was that, eh?!!

It's managed to get into my blood in a way I never thought possible.....it is just an amazingly capable car, perfect in every way. I have no desire right now for any other car and that is most unlike me......and perhaps the biggest compliment I can give the M5.

It's expensive to run of course, with recent expenditure including....

insurance (£900)

road tax (£435)

tracker renewal (£135)

warranty extension (£951).....but worth every penny for peace of mind!

However, these are not that much more than I would reasonably expect to pay for any other performance car....not really......so for what you get, the M5 is actually unbelievable value.

I have not had any problem with the car in 10000 miles of pleasure driving......never misses a beat. The car loves to be used in the manner I'm using it.....longer drives at weekends (averaging about 19 mpg), with none of that commuting crap. Brakes and tyres are lasting well.

So if you're contemplating one of these M5s, just go for it and enjoy it.....you'll never regret it.

M5Mark has a similar attitude......due respect to him!

Jazzer (locked in M-Power for the foreseeable future)

M5 Mark.....you're way worse than me.....93000 miles...and still only £87 a month on warranty....sheer class!

About this track day.....I don't suppose you'd let me help you maximise the use of the remaining tread in those rear tyres?

I'd love to handle one of these things around a good circuit, but would not dare do it in my baby!!

I can do sideways stuff all day long, but only on other people's cars (like the other half's!)

Jazzer

PS: I'm quite serious about this.....nice fee your way as a thank you!

Still on origonal clutch! I've used LC lots also, maybe I just have the good one... I'm expecting it to go at any moment! BUT I've been expecting it to go since like 50k!

Had the following under warranty,
Oil Cooler (leaking)
Power steering pump
PDC module
PDC sensor
Both banks of actuators

That's it. I think not bad.

The one next week is at Snetterton, probably the best track there is for E60 M5 except Brunters. It's a very well thought out track event. It's a novice event and totally safe, no over taking in corners, only over taking on the left and only when car in front is blue flagged or they indicate. (that would be EVERY car vs the M5!) So its very safe, I've only done 1 of these before and there was no problems at all and that was at the indy circuit at brands. Everyone was safe and there was no crazy driving. For £45 it's rude NOT to go I think!

Sign up, be great to see you there smile

Looking forward to get into an e60 M5 soon, my 535d does just not cut it.
Loved my e39 M5 soo much I miss it everyday (and its Tubi exhaust)
I think the Warranty is good value I remember paying £1800 when they changed the rules a few years back as before that the warranty was a tru bargain it was about £400 a year when I had my ZM Coupe and 1st M5,, still not bad £900 for the peace of mind it brings and I never had a problem with a claim

Stop...stop...stoppppppp

I can't cope anymore.....

Got rid of my E60 M5 due to the mileage I'm doing which I could no longer justify my near £500 a month fuel bill and suspiciously overly friendly relationship with the petrol station attendants due to my frequent thrice weekly visits..

Seeing these threads just keeps me moving back onto autotrader to potentially rekindle the relationship once had with both the attendants and M5!

Please stop!

How do you get abwarranty extension for under a grand?

I was quioted £1350 for my 07, 535d and it's only got 60k miles on the clock! When I asked if there was any movement, I was simply told, no.

I think if you renew after 60k it goes up quite steeply, but the trick is to renew and pay monthly before 60k on the clock and then the price stays the same even past 60k, I pay monthly on the 535d and view its a very cheap rental that gives total peace of mind.

I'm afraid if you have past the 60k or pay annually and you go over 60k you have to pay the higher amount.

I could be wrong though so if some else can confirm??

OOOO I DREAM of a £500 a month fuel bill! My local sainsburys know me by name now, on the bright side have LOT'S of nectar points and shell points wink

I do around 35k miles a year and only get 17p a mile back from the company, was fine it was 85p a litre, I could sometimes break even, now I'm about £40 out of pocket every tank frown

I'm not sure if it's available anymore, but is still valid for people who took it out. It's £87 a month and NO mileage limit and NO age limit. I know it is NOT transferable. I took it out when the car was on 28k so not sure if it can be taken out past a certain mileage, a friend of mine got an M5 with 64k on and he couldn;t take out the same one as me. It really is too good to be true, but they still keep paying out!

If I'd got something back fuel wise from the company I may have been a little happier! The £500 was usually all work mileage and whilst it was fun fun fun, got peeved about it in the end and now pondering whether to get one back but as a weekend car!!
