Currently running Falken 452s on all corners (the 2 on the drivers side are very new) but need a new front tyre on the near side (to be closely followed by the rear near side). The car had the Falkens on when I bought it. Now the problem is I have is that I think the grip is shocking in the wet and am considering reverting all tyres to stock i.e. the Michelin PS2s - my local tyre place in Bristol is quoting £1,200 for a set, fully fitted including VAT (obviously a lot cheaper than BMW) but I have also had a quote from another place for £224.17 each (front) and £264.67 (rear), £977.68 a set - does that seem too cheap?

Also, any ideas what to do with the 2 new Falkens I have had fitted, seems a waste just to bin them?!

Try places like blackcircles.com I got a good price from them, but I can't remember how much it was.

Hi!

PS2s will make a massive difference to your car......try Elite, based in Rainham, Essex.....

http://www.elitedirect.com/

These guys are very professional and very competetive pricewise.....I think there might be a new PS3 out now, but I'm not sure.

Alpinestars/Jazzer

Thanks for your replies... I've just ordered a set of 4 Michelin PS2s, fitted and VAT inclusive for £977.68, well over £200 cheaper than anywhere else. I've used this company before to fit the Falkens and they are excellent.

I guess I'll just have to stick the 2 newish Falkens on Ebay unless anyone wants to make me an offer?

So what was the name of the other place?

Sounds a good deal!

Cabot Tyres in Totterdown, Bristol. Malvern Tyres quoted £1,200 after an initial offer of over £1,397.07, Kwik Fit almost £1,600. Guess it just pays to shop around! Crazy really.

check the manufacturing date on the tyres when you get them

You should be looking for 4 digits which show the year and week of manufacture eg 3208 would be week 32 2008. I think the point being made is that tyres have a shelf life and if you are getting some cheap, then it might be because they are "old".
