Picked up a black E60 M5 (2007) on Friday and have a few questions.

Car has TV and DAB..

TV reception is grainy and terrible.. is that normal.. not really bothered but nice to know its all working right.

Sat nav, how can i tell what software version is running, as there seem to be loads of upgrade discs available? Professional is installed.

DAB.. its installed but always says no signal and cant find stations.. Im assuming antenna connection might be lose but am i missing something, is there a on button somewhere deep in Idrive.

Where did you test the TV? You can get bad signal areas. Did you get the DVD case with your car? The version will be on there.
Can't help with the DAB.

In all the time I owned my M5 I could not get a decent picture on the TV! I would have to be in a perfect place in Town just to get Dave to pick up and the pic was awful! Thankfully Sky Sports news always had a sound feed wink

In regards to the DAB, I hear it is a major problem on ALL cars. When I was looking for my E92 M3 I saw a couple with the DAB feature and both owners said it was rubbish.

Hope that helps smile

I had the tv function in my E39 530i sport and the reception was pretty poor tbh, however my E60 BMW doesn't even have a TV tuner although I have pro nav.

Maybe it's a BMW thing?!

How is the range of your key?

Can you open the car from far away or do you need to be close for it to work?

If you have poor key reception the diversity antenna is probably all furred up and dirty.

It has copper contacts that connect to the rear window antennas and over time it corrodes, causing poor radio reception and the key range will decrease.

You can remove it by taking off the rear pillar covers, gently pulling down the headliner as its located under the rear brake LED strip light.

Google should find a few pics of how it’s done.
