Lovely, but what could you do with it? Drive it, but devalue it, or mothball it as a museum exhibit?

At the other end of the scale frown - "found" an '86/'87 plated example parked in a service station near a well known circuit in Wiltshire, yesterday; looking very forlorn & probably worth about .01% of the red ones asking price...

It's a very hard car to value in my opinion! There will be someone who will be willing to pay the asking price, or close to it. Someone similar to the seller maybe? After all, look at his collection!! And there will be folk who value it a lot less. Very difficult indeed!!

How much was that car new then??

Much as it's lovely to see a car in fantastic condition, it's such a shame that a machine that's so sublime on the road has barely turned a wheel.

That's an amazing collection and I know some of the cars are well-renowned, but I can't help thinking, "It's just a Sierra/Escort." Oddly, these were the cars that were around in my teenage years when they were new, but I still can't get excited about an XR3i.

Beautiful collection though, and well-presented but they'd be better off being driven like their makers intended..

Not so sure about that. All their peers are now rusting heaps or worse. Retaining a few examples for posterity is a nice idea - it demonstrates the crap we had to grow up with. No kid today would believe how terrible they were with out these as a reminder. hehe

£80k is a lot and obviously you could never drive it without it devaluing but given Sport Evo's in good nick are rumoured to sell for £40 to £50k (and perhaps more) and hardly ever come on the market it's probably easily worth £60k. An Evo II sold on Pistonheads for £32k recently with 10,000 miles on it which is definitely less desirable than the holy grail that is the Sport Evo....the ultimate version of quite possibly BMW's finest handling road car ever.

He's selling a very rare Mercedes 190 Evolution II with only 146 miles on it too.

This one was up for £29K if I remember correctly, and that's got nearly 100K on it. Must have been a good restoration.

Whatever takes your fancy but I have never been one for garages queens. Its a bloody waste if you ask me (mind you those Fords would probably rust if they were taken outdoors so probably the best place for them smile)

Yeah too much money for a car with that mileage in my opinion...though condition is definitely more important. Classic Heroes are run by the ex ML guys..........make of that what you will.

Classic Heroes also have a blog in BMW Car magazine...the publisher of which used to own that car......

No longer for sale. Bid history shows £70,000 offer from a German bidder declined.

Got to dissagree there, its a piece of history, a real pleasure to see such a car in its origional fresh from the factory trim. Its got the rest of time to turn as many wheels as its owner wishes.
