At last I have taken the plunge and bought an e60 M5 11,500 Miles June 06 for a cracking price.
Silverstone Blue with matching leather and Logic 7, TV, M Seats etc etc. Had an amazing Sunday the car was in Cumbria, so a good friend flew me up there in his plane (Good friend to know!!) only took 2 hours and then I drove back down through the lake district and then home to Surrey (this took 7 hours!!!) But what a car, its incredible when you first wind it up past 5000 it takes your breath away.

Bad points: After getting out of a M535d Touring (soon to grace the classifieds) and only getting to see my local BP attendant once a month, I'm going to be in there several times a week!! So I was wondering as I will probably see him more than my children what shall I get him for christmas??

and on another point my car has 11900 miles on the clock but is till showing 26k to the next big service, is this correct, what mileage have you seen for the first big service, (It had oil in March at 10500)

Congatulations Gibbo....a superb choice!

And what a place for that introductory drive....quite stunning.

I love the colour.....the blue really shows on those dull, cloudy days.

Enjoy getting to know it.....it gets better with time and will get right under your skin.

I just swapped a 335d for an M3 and now spend a tiny amount more time at the petrol station....

lovely motor,

just took delivery of mine new E60 M5 today. not stopped driving it yet.

isn't it strange that as we all know the gearbox isn't the greatest but for me it just seems to add to the occasion. I'm going to enjoy learning how to drive this beast. So far so good.... :-)

Congratulations too you to Noble3r - every time I drive it this car amazes me, I have what I thought are quick cars in the past but this thing is on a different level, I know what you mean about the SMG it's fantastic at full chat but around town it's a different story. But I just can't put into words how good this car is.

Excellent choice. I would suggest getting a Tesco credit card because using this to pay for 99RON fuel at Tescos will give you double clubcard points and you will soon rack up a lot of points.

Plus, if the cashiers are really ugly you can pay at the pump smile

They are all conditionally based. If that's what's showing, that's when it is.

BTW: I bought another one today, went to collect it only to be told they couldn't tax it. Fuming!!

Congratulations Groucho, Frustrating if you went to pick it up and some scrote forgot to go to the post office!!! I would of taken it untaxed and done it online and ask for the difference back. Hope this one doesn't attract as much attention from the younger drivers

and 10k in 14 weeks sounds horriby expensive, you could double your wages simply by changing cars.. brilliant

Gratz on a great buy! The experience will only get better! Won;t be long before you're craving more power and espeically more torque and the modifying begins!

As for the fuel, think yourself lucky, I bought mine 2 years ago with 18k on the clock.....now on 97k! I'm very friendly on first name terms with the petrol station people smile

I`m thinking maybe an everyday second car that does 40mpg-ish will save me a fortune. I could have bought a fairly decent golf or focus for the £3200 I`ve spent on fuel!!!!!

Epic comment!
Either E60 M5 or woman would do nicely... I'm, stuck with my E39 version for now.

The E39 M5 is like a MILF, she may have been used by another, and possibly damned hard, but shes only getting better with age!

Congratuations.... smile

Hope you don't mind, here's mine:

Only had her a couple of weeks and initially thought there was something wrong with the lethargic gearbox - I've historically owned a couple of CSL's (my only other cars with an SMG box), which are noticably more urgent in terms of change speed. I leave the M5 on max speed shift and I'm now getting used to it.

Great car.

I would not swap my e39 M5 for an e60 M5 period.
