E92 Supercharging - Can't Get Insurance
Discussion
Hey Guys,
So my supercharger kit arrives next week and I have been trying to get insurance sorted with not much success.
I am 30 yrs old, have 1 SP30 from 4 years ago & my previous cars include E39 M5, modded VR4 & Twin Turbo Supra.
I currently own an 2008 E92 M3 and have done for around 2 years. I have always fancied supercharing a car due to the bhp/£ ratio you get so opted for an ESS VT1-535 kit which is rated at 535bhp. (an increase of 20% power over stock 420bhp)
So far I have rang around countless insurance companies with not alot of success.
Adrian Flux where no use as they will only insure modified cars up to a value of £30k. Most other companies are "talking to there underwriters" which I suspect is the same underwriter for them all.
Pace ward just told me that there underwriter thinks the power increase is too much for me to handle so they declined which got me quite angry.
So it would appear the only cars you can get modified insurance on are modded evo, and scoobs that fall below the value??
has anyone got any idea's?? anyone else running a SC E92 M3?
I wonder if ESS will accept the kit back?
I'm completeley frustrated, bemused and utterly p!ssed off at the situation I find myself in... how can NO QUOTE, be an acceptable answer??
oh well I guess I should just accept the fact that we are all destined to drive run of the mill grey hybrid shopping cars in this oppressive sh!thole of a country....

i insured mine on my company fleet policy......... ESS will take the kits back but re-shipping costs will be all yours of course, but out of pure noseyness, i called another random insurer and ask about the mods i'd done.... they quoted my car insurance as the same group as a top end lambo or ferrari, he said these mods move your car into a specialist group we cant help you with.... mmm lets hope i never have to insure this car on my own policy ;-)
