Why can't I sell my M6?
Discussion
It was the best price for the mileage/colour combo anywhere within 100 miles of me afaik.
Had a few phonecalls (wouldn't say plenty, but enough). everyone asked a load of questions, which i enthusiastically answered and had nice chats with most of the buyers (i.e. they were not put off by me or the info i had given them)
yet not a single person went as far as the viewing!
What am I doing wrong? I have even went as far as disclose my absolute final price over the phone, and I couldn't get a similar car for the money I am sure. Been complimented on teh pictures in the ad too. so it's not the price, it's not me and it's not the ad. Just getting frustrated.
At this rate i will have it for another two month and just hand the keys back to BMW, no biggie.

Are others selling or is it just your car that is sticking?
No idea, do you suggest I call the ads on the same page as my car and ask them if it's still for sale?Just an idea like.

In which case you'll be aware of the new M6 previewed at Paris and are likely to wait. Also, heading into winter is not going to be the best time for BMW's most rapid 2wd GT coupe.
I'm not sure I follow the first point. Isee's car (assuming I've found the right one) is a beautiful, low mileage, 4.5 yr old car for approx £26k. That's an astounding amount of car for the money. The sort of person who's in the market for one of those probably isn't going to be too distracted by the imminent launch of the new model (IMHO!).But I think your second point, combined with widespread concerns about which way the economy will go over the next 12 months, is probably closer to the money.
And I also wonder whether purchasers would rather pay a little more for the "peace of mind" of buying from a dealer. It makes test-driving a lot easier, for a start...

probably safe to say if you're looking for an M6, you're quite likely to be a car nut. In which case you'll be aware of the new M6 previewed at Paris and are likely to wait. Also, heading into winter is not going to be the best time for BMW's most rapid 2wd GT coupe.
Wait the best part of two years and pay three to four times as much? Different buyers.Gruber said:

Hmmm. A used M6 at £25-30k or an upcoming new M6 at what, £80-100k.Imho, anyone realistically looking at an M6, cogniscent of the running costs, could probably afford either when looking at finance options. And there is a large proportion of 80k+ cars that are financed, whereas I'd wager a larger proportion of privately bought/sold 25-30k cars are increasingly bought with cash - especially given the changes in unregulated finance agreements over the past 2 years.
But a used M6 at 30k is a terrific bargain imho... one that I would have jumped on if I didn't need the space of an M5. Imo, the V10 also works better in the M6 than the M5.

There is only one reason a car does not sell and thats price. Needs to be cheaper.
Can't argue with that. Fuel consumption/range is an issue, but to me it has always been one major issue: Bangle. Are there are any Bangled cars that are bucking the trend for heavy depreciation?
Amazing car.

I can answer this oneI think.....
I was looking for an M5/6 about month ao and came very very close to buying a m5......however when I did the endlesspondering tha goe with this kin of car, I just couldnt justify the thirs of the 5l V10 engine....
My friend who has one, adised me to think long and hard before committing myself to one, given tht his rarely exceeds 10mpg locally, and wih 75% of my driving beng local this became quite an important consideration....
Also, felt that a loss of c£5k in my one year of ownership was really qute possble given the state of the economy
In the end, Ive bought a 2005 Porsche 997 carrera 2, which Im very pleased with
And the best thing on the 997, is that even in horrible local driving, its giving me 280 miles to a £72 tank, which is pretty close to what my BMW 730 was giving...I also feel that I will lose a lot less, and the 997 will sell far easier than the M5/6 as it has taken me ages to find this one, and most seemed to be sold very quickly indeed
So, in essence, I went for 997 mainly for monetary reasons....I reckon the 997 will save me around £5k in fuel alone in a year.....
