My last E60 seemed quicker than my new one. My old one was a 55 plate, both are stock, and when I accelerated it used to pull at low revs and then seemed to pull again ast round 5-6000. The new one is a 57 plate and the accelerating seems more linear and not as quick. Saying that, the current one seems to handle a lot better and feels more planted.

This could all be in the imagination of course.

Could well me imagination! Especially if you were out of the car for a while before replacing. I guess some seem better thanothers. You tried SMG reset, always amazes me the difference that makes when I remember to do it! If it's not a silly question why did you change cars?!

40 mph, put it in neutral, foot off accelerator, pull both paddles
towards you for three seconds, then put back into gear and drive.

Quality control is one thing but some cars are made on a Monday morning when everyone is bright eyed and bushy tailed and some are made on a Friday afternoon when everyone is trying to get out the door.
