A good friend of mine has been diagnosed with dreaded VANOS issues on his E46 M3.
Has anyone got any experiences of Mr Vanos in Darlington? Apparently he can rebuild the unit thus keeping matey boys costs down a bit....
He came down to me in Kent and fitted a recon unit on my e36 M3evo. A top bloke and I would not hesitate to use him again.Has anyone got any experiences of Mr Vanos in Darlington? Apparently he can rebuild the unit thus keeping matey boys costs down a bit....
I have just had my E36 M3 evo also reworked by Steve after the exhaust cam advance got jammed, it was a bit rattly anyway which was bugging the hell out of me, unit is now really nice and quiet, soleniods all work like they should, i'm a happy boy.
His reputation seems to be growing, haven't heard any negatives so far.

Business: Often sick of people constantly phoning up and asking questions, taking time away from important stuff like work.

Business's that are "sick of people constantly phoning up and asking questions" don't tend to stay around very long!
The reason that he doesn't quote prices on his website is because they are constantly changing due to the volatile economy and fluctuating currency exchanges.
I feel bad for you now though; would you like me to contact him for you?

A simple "sorry I don't know what he would quote" or even ignoring the thread as you haven't got a clue would have been ok
His quote would depend on what you want done, to which model of car and if you wish him to travel to you, and therefore whereabouts you are.None of this imformation you have provided. Yet you expect someone other than the vendor himself, to provide you with a quote? Odd.
£700 for a replacement exchange unit for an E36 Evo.

There was a bit of a clue in the very first post, by the thread starter, where he mentioned VANOS problems in his E46 M3.None of this imformation you have provided. Yet you expect someone other than the vendor himself, to provide you with a quote? Odd.

The second post, indeed a reply said that they had used them on their E36 EVO and they thought they did a good job.
There was then another post where someone mentioned that they had used Mr Vanos for doing VANOS repairs to E36 EVO.
Now don't get me wrong, but I'd have assumed my simple question would have refered to one of those cars, as that was what had already been mentioned.
I would then have expected a possible reply along the lines of "oh, mine cost £XXX for a full VANOS replacement, or £YYY for doing some minor repairs".
Simple ball park figures, is that too difficult to compute?
I certainly didn't expect some pedantic t
t who'd just discovered the good old "let me google that for you" internet special that has been around for quite a while, so thanks for your help.
