Comfortable Sports Cars / GT Cars - M6 or......?
Discussion
Hi,
The criteria is a 2 seater sports car that is comfortable, can be driven around town with minimal fuss but then you can open the taps on country roads whilst motorways are completed with consumate ease...The other caveat is it has to be an auto (SMG/DCT/DSG)
What car would you say rivals the M6 for this kind of thing?
Aston V8V?
Maser Gransport / GranTurismo?
Audi S6?
E92 DCT M3
The budget set for this task is £45k?
Any thoughts?

Same choices I was faced with when I bought mt M6, although I went with the cabrio.
V8V lovely car but not the Aston I really want (DBS), XKR nice but I'm not quite ready for the "shaguar" comments! Maserati Granturismo was a serious consideration but somehow the dash put me off, weird I know.
Porsche 911 test drove, liked it but I really wanted a 997 Turbo S.
The M6 was, for me, the answer to everything I wanted and a great replacement for the Z4M.
Whatever you do get full merino leather not extended, get piano black not carbon fibre interior and dont go for black leather, it looks dull.

I thought you did! Much as I loved the Z it was a little angry for me and the fiance said every trip in it was like going to the dentist!
The M6 is by far the more comfortable proposition for everyday driving, have put 12,000 miles on mine in 6 months.
Prices are ridiculously cheap on the M6 at the moment, good time to be buying. Where abouts are you based?

I am based in Central London, so also enjoy the teeth chattering daily drives die to the less than satisfactory roads!
You will struggle to find one but an Alpina B6 is a 'better' day-to-day proposition.
I love the M6 and in certain circumstances believe it represents similar, outlandish vfm to the 996 Turbo.
There are times when, having exceeded 200 mph (without a Vbox) I pull over and weep at the magnitude of what has just transpired; not dissimilar to Alexander in a post-world conquered repose.
It is imperfect, however and the re are times when I wonder whether a 'perfect Audi' or big, twice blown V12 from Stuttgart might not be preferable (having listened to Mikey Von W's chunner re the S65 AMG, last night - the utter cad.)
Then Herr Scouse 'has a word' and I snap to...

On the test drive it felt a bit dated, liked the engine and the car moved nicely when right boot connected with the cheap looking carpets.
Interior looks good from a distance but has a flimsy low rent finish, typical of the Italians motors
Gearbox was dim witted and really let the car down, biggest bug bear with the whole package in my view, even with every thing set in sport mode. It's not a car you can hoon about in the same as a M3, CSL, Z4MC, 911, AMV8 etc.
Seemed like a large step backwards when compared to mode M cars/Porsches
Great looking and sounding kit of kit though.
