M3 dct options
Discussion
Morning, my local dealer are trying to convince me that an 08 8000 mile xar is a good idea. I've taken it out and I am very impressed (much more so than I than thought). One thing I noticed is that on the console by left leg there are only 2 switches with a blank in the middle, is this therefore missing the active dampers and if so what am I missing?
Anything I should look for or avoid?
Cheers

Yes, you want this option if this car is going to be your daily transport. You can knock £600-£800 off the price for not having EDC
If you intend to spend a lot of time on the track, consider buying this car and negotiate the price down and then fit coil overs which are superior to EDC on the track.

I appreciate having EDC but an M3 without it is still a great car. I believe that without EDC the car is set up something like the middle of the three EDC positions, which is what I use for occasional enthusiastic driving. Most of the time I leave it in comfort, and I think there is a small but worthwhile improvement in comfort levels. The hardest position I find quite jiggly and I only use it for my rare track visits, where I think it is definitely worthwhile.
Fair comments thanks. The car is very good and I think ticks most of the other boxes I want. If it is indeed the middle and is comfy enough and I'm not going to shove it on a track (well maybe once of twice) then I might go for it...
I wonder if they can retrofit it..
Any idea how many dct coupes there are?
Thanks

I've done a bit more reading now, anyone got the 'edition'version.... Is it much better (Evo seemed to think so).

Edition model was same as the normal coupe other than the fact it came in three colour choices and 10mm drop, you sure your not getting confused with the Competition model?D

Although quite why I'm worried about software tweaks on dampers when I'm coming from a Cerbera is beyond me

I bought my 1st E92 without EDC (the dealer didn't give me a heads up) and so, upon re-sale found it far less desirable to the open market (I bought it new).
My 2nd (used) HAD to have EDC. When I spoke with 3 main dealers they all understood my request for EDC and had NON EDC cars at the same price (for the unknowing punter) but agreed it had quite considerably less value. They all agreed that EDC is a must have option (even if you don't use it). Glass's guide (sorry) prices all state EDC and running in service as a given with trade value figures.
