Just been offered an E46 M3 Individual with 26,000 miles on the clock for my E30 M3.

I said 'no'. My reasons are that.......well lots really.

Mine is much more rare, won't lose any dosh in the foreseeable future, I've been looking after mine for the last seven years, so I know ever inch of it. And more than any other reason, I just love the E30 in a way I don't think I could the E46.

It may be faster, more horses etc. But it doesn't grab me the way the E30 does.

So my question is;

Am I bonkers?

No, you're not bonkers at all.

At the end of the day, your car is a classic and if kept in good condition shouldn't lose money.

e46 M3's are becoming worth less and less, and you can always get one in the future if you really feel the need to own one at some point.

(And this from someone who loves his e46 M3)

as great as the E46 M3 is. they'll still be a fair few around in another 5-10 years time. there will be fk all E30 M3's around. I have seen 1 in the last year or 2. they're rare, and they're bloody lovely.

i'd hang on to the E30 M3 for the rest of my days if i were you, especially if it's a minter. thing is, i doubt you'll find another, especially with such sentimental value if you've had it 7 years.

Keep it mate, you're not bonkers at all. unless we all are.... hehe

Here's a photo of it outside the Ace Cafe. I think you might see why he wants it so bad.

There is nothing wrong with you wanting to keep your car.

In terms of you being nuts or not; I cant say! I am not a doc!

good choice.. in terms of value the only way is up for the e30 m3..!
I got rid of my absolutly stunning E30 C1 2.3 Alpina (which got front page of Total BMW mag) for a mint e36 evo, i do miss the Alpina but i had enjoyed the car and have happily moved on...

Now if the E46 had been the most perfect low miles CSL out there I might have been tempted, but an everyday E46 is no substitute for your E30.

agreed. the E46 csl is a cracker, and i can't ever see prices dropping low to be honest. but a standard E46 M3....as good as they are, i'd not even have to think twice about keeping the E30. especially that minter!!
