Saw a 05 M3 CS with 29k on the clock yesterday.

Has quite a few stone chips and marks on the paint but otherwise very tidy.

It's a BMW AUC and they're asking £24,995 and won't budge a lot from that price. I think that is a pretty high price, opinions please!!

It's also been in the showroom since Aug 10 which worries me a bit.....

Is this the one at Hexagons?

If so, it's not a bad price - it's a Hexagon price.

But the car will need some serious prepping.

Not at Hexagon by any chance ? They're renowned for, err, "optimistic" valuations. I wouldn't think you should pay more than 20K for a CS of any vintage, and depreciation is still going to be fairly high.

Thanks for the quick replies! Yep this is the one at Hexagon.

What do you mean by it would need some serious prepping, cosmetically or mechanically?

paintwork needs sorting, so many swirl marks. A really good detail is required on this car, and all other Hexagon cars smile.

Mate I got a 53 plate BMW 3 series for 7K. So according to my caculations, you're getting done over pal. Doesn't that occour to you? And you call yourself a 'piston head'. You my fellow sound are a joker!

If you can find a E46 M3 CS with 30k on the clock for anywhere near £7k for me that would be great thanks rolleyes

Re the other comment re paint swirls, I did notice that with a lot of Hexagon cars.

Helpful...rolleyes

Despite a late car / low miles, for that, the price would need to start with a 1...

To add...

Unless you really need the toys etc, I wouldnt drop more than £20K on an E46 now unless it was a CSL..

Listen to Outnumbered....he speaks sense.

Good luck wink

Is that just a daily snotter for when you are not in the Rolls, M3 or Merc?

Yep, pretty sensible advice. I would consider paying slightly over £20k if it was low mileage and still had a good warranty cover (like a BMW AUC would) but £25k is too high.

I'm just dying to get my hands on an M car!!!

The right one will come up...

Cars like this will continue to put heavy downward pressure on E46 M3 values

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/2280906.htm (not related to seller !)

IMHO, Hexagon are dreaming if they think they can get that price at this time of year...

yes, and that's probably what they paid for the car. So just be patient. But as others have said, the E92 M3 is tempting and there may not be any more V8 M3's again.

The E46 M3 CS is a nice car, but not as special as the ultimate E46- the CSL.

Well I sold my '55' Plate CS (39k on the clock and a decent spec) for £19,500 a month or so ago and I wouldn't spend more than 20k unless it was mint and low mileage.

Thanks for all the advice guys. Not going any further with this one as too pricey.

Will keep my eyes open for another, if nothing turns up it will just have to be a DCT E92 towards the end of the year!

CSL.... hadn't really thought about it too much as I've always understood the CSL to be a bit hardcore for a daily driver but to be honest I've never driven one. Saying that I've just moved so have a minimal commute now!

Maybe I'll have a look through the classifieds....scratchchin

a bit of a myth, unless you're precious and have an overwhelming desire for luxuries you may use from time to time (elec/heated seats, TV etc) or need to use the back seats regularly for kids etc....

research available here www.cslregister.com

I admit I'm biased, but dont rule it out without trying smile
