E60 M5 bonnet release jammed
Discussion
Get yourself anther pair of hands, one of you apply slight downward pressure on the leading edge of the bonnet whilst the other pulls the release handle. Or try downward pressure followed by a brisk upwards jerk.
(This is assuming that the release handle still feels like it is attatched to the release mech, if the handle is limp this will not work).

Just had this problem myself on my e60 530d, seems like the lubricant dried out and the latch wouldn't move.
I tried the suggestions above, and they wouldn't work for me, but I found something that did, so if anyone else needs it they can try this.
I got the end of an old piece of lashing strap, although any short piece of strong rope/strap should do, and I fed it through behind the latch itself to form a loop around the latch. Then I used that to pull sideways on the latch, which successfully released it.
Might be useful for someone else

I think M5's have double catches.I tried the suggestions above, and they wouldn't work for me, but I found something that did, so if anyone else needs it they can try this.
