Hello folks.

I have booked in my M6 for some investigation and work with BMW High Wycombe in 2 weeks. I am hoping a few of the issues can be covered under warranty, but am not sure.

1. Air con went on the blink. Had it looked at by BMW Battersea and they said it prob needed re-gassing. So this was done, but didnt last long, maybe 6 weeks. So again hoping whatever the problem is it can be covered under warranty?

2. Illuminated door sills dont work. I understand some have got this done under warranty and some have not?

3. Car has comfort access, but the keyless entry and keyless start do not work for the car. Possible re-coding or something? Again hoping warranty will cover it.

4. Car can be a little jerky on take off and changing gear, so think clutch adaptations need to be reset. Again hoping under warranty.

Any thoughts/ advice on how to play these?

Txs,

D

I had mixed messages about the sills - both of mine were shot when I bought the car & I didn't notice at first. After rejecting it as a warranty claim at first, I then had that reversed as it was successfully argued it was an electrical component, rather than a seal which it was first classed as. I don't know how much this was to do with a friendly master tech.. YMMV

I would have thought you will have no argument or issue with the other items

Thanks mate. I am hoping so.

I want value for money with this warranty. They charge enough for it!

I will go with the electrical item view.

By the way, how do they look when working?

They look rather nice at night, but you can't tell if they are on or not during the day (why I missed that they weren't working..). Not sure I would bother to pay to replace them if they failed again (£600+ just for parts)

Yes the warranty should pay for the whole job, they even wave the insurance on my courtesy car!! (oops maybe should not have said that!!)

Hi,

Just had my seals replaced under warranty last week. I was told it cost about £700 for both sides, no way would i pay that out of my own pocket as don't think it's worth more than £100 per side.

I'd be wary about getting the clutch adaptations reset as my local specialist told me that this should only be done when a new clutch is fitted. He had experience of a 06 plate M5 trashing its own clutch after the adaptations were reset.

Just a quick update for anyone who may like this detail.

Car has been in to BMW Battersea and they are replacing front shocks under warranty due to a leaking shock.

They are also doing the door sills with no questions asked.

AirCon was a result of a hole in the condensor, so that was on me.

They are still looking into the comfort access issue. They have replaced the control unit and re-programmed the car and it is still not working so they have held onto the car to inv further.

How can you tell if the shocks are leaking, as presumably they're gas filled? Does something come up on the diagnostics check? Must say thank God you're getting them done under warranty hehe

To be honest, I didn't even know. Certianly no sensor or warning came up.

BMW pointed it out to me. Only one was leaking apparently and they are changing both fronts.

1700 quid or so!
