The wife wants one of these or rather I have convinced her to have one smile LOL

It will be our 1st BMW but those of you familiar with the brand:-

1) Are they likely to up the 450 limit into the UK ?

2) I see its the same N54 engine as the 135i but with overboost. Are these engines underrated on power by BMW ?

3) Anyone else on here on the list?

Thanks

B

Hi

My Black 1M starts production on June 20th. Had my deposit down since September last year.

1) not very. unlike some other countries, the BMW UK website specifically says 450 cars for the UK.
BMW themselves have said not limited but very hard to get!

2) N54 engine but not same as 135i. Same as z4is which i believe is slightly different. I loved the 135i so I'm sure i won't be disappointed by 1m

3) yes. Me and Pugsey are two. As suggested see the other thread for the others

Cheers,

Mark

Never say never, but BMW would be sticking 2 fingers up at 450 hard fought customers including some of its most loyal followers.

For me, the guaranteed limited edition was a key factor in weighing up the value of £40,000 1 Series.

So, if you want a new one, I think you may need to be quick and possibly speak to a few dealerships.

Good Luck, I'm sure it'll be worth it.

hi guys, i (ahem ... i mean my wife !) managed to get on the list.

will probably convince her to get a VO one ... keen so see it in the metal before she finally decides lol.

thanks for the responses. just worried BMW will do a Lotus and keep bringing out more special editions of the same car.

i haven't bought a bmw in the past because they are so 'popular' here in ldn, but if this one is a ltd run of 450 happy to go for it.

should be a cracker this thing smile

In these economic times I wouldn't put it beyond them to bring a few more in. I imagine the BMW dealers in Ireland,Greece,Spain, Portugal will struggle to sell a £40k 1 series. M///cars sell well in Germany, UK and Switzerland but are much harder to shift elsewhere. I know of one UK BMW dealer who has been known to order/import RHD M/// cars from a continental dealer as they have people breaking their door down for an early car and the dealer in France can't shift their allocation.

I thought they had already decided that the 1M wouldn't be a limited edition, I know it was originally planned to be (2,700 cars only) but aren't they now saying it will be available until the end of 1 series production in 2012?

Rumours surfaced early last year of a drop-top version as well, not sure if that's progressed or not.

BMW are insisting - both to customers AND the press - only 450 cars to be made. With the new 1 Series due out in 2011 I doubt they'd produce any more, purely from a logistics point of view. All 450 are been produced at the same time and delivered during same week - so I'm told. Which again makes further runs seem unlikely. A limited run of 450 (tiny) will be great BUT, as it happens, I'm buying the car because I think it will be absolutely blinding and from a practical point of view it wouldn't bother my if there were more made - other than to think less of BMW.
