Software upgrades

Hi all. I'm a relative noob to M cars, so not sure if this may be a silly question or not!

Is there a way to upgrade the software in my E46 M3? I'm thinking about things like sat nav, centre console display (it has the widescreen tv unit built in), bluetooth etc? It's more of a want to than a need to, so I don't want to take it to BMW direct and get charged a lung just for a 'nice to do' upgrade - is there anywhere else I can do this, could I do it myself even?

I presume you are talking about the OS. From the main menu press "Set" and then in the top right hand corner you will see the software version. From memory it should be something like 4-00.

But in anycase the upgrade is easy. Get a copy of V31 or 32, insert it in the navigation drive and let it take its course.

That's brilliant, thank you. I didn't think it would be as easy as popping a new CD in, I thought I'd have to plug the car into something or recombobulate the oojamaflip with the wotsit!!

I've just bought a V32 CD off of eBay, so I'll give that a shot. All I really want to do is have the flashier looking display and release some of the potential that I know BMW put in there to begin with!
