I have bit of a question on Nitron which I'm wondering some PHer's can advise on.

A few years ago, I used to get Performance BMW magazine and I'd see the various advertisements from the usual parts makers and performance brands etc etc. I then didn't read the magazine so much and recently upon reading more again, I do see many of the same brands and products. One 'new' name is Nitron for Suspension. Looking at their pricing and market focus they are firmly in the upper to top end price bracket. I'd like to know who Nitron are in terms of brand? they're only 'new' in terms of visibility I've seen in the magazine, and there's not much mention of them on various BMW forums etc. I'm thinking they're an offshoot from another major brand? perhaps some employees left and started up 'Nitron'? or are they indeed much longer established but previously didn't do much marketing and hence were not very visible marketing wise?

Any one know their history and how they came about etc ?

Cheers, Dennis!

They've been around for about 10 years or so used mainly in lotus elise /tvr circles, they make high quality gas monotube shock absorbers.

As stated Nitron have been around for some time and make a very high quality reliable product, their main market up to now has been specialist vehicles such as Elise/Exige/Caterham etc. The feedback I have heard from customers is invariably excellent. The technology the dampers use is I am sure just as relevant on a 2 tonne vehiicle as a 600KG one.

It is easier to get a decent suspension setup on a heavier car than a relative light weight such as a Lotus due to the sprung/un-sprung weight ratios.

Nitron also have a good reputation for motorcycle dampers which are a much more complex field due to having less sprung weight and having to deal with the rising rate linkages.

I've fitted Nitron shocks on my last few cars and bikes: 2 VX's, an S2000, 2 R1's, a Daytona 675 and a Z4M Coupe.

Great kit, great company and British!

Phone Guy (the boss) - tell him what you want to know and he'll answer your questions honestly.

Or go to the open day ...

Thanks for the replies and info !

Wish I could go for one of their kits, but I can't justify that level of investment on my car. I'm most likely to go mid level with BC Racing coilovers or Apex. If I do save a little more, probably the KW V1's

I'll read up a little more on Nitron smile

Cheers,Dennis!
