rather than look at the classifieds is there anyone looking for a quick sale on a bmw m3 e46 cabriolet? im not too fussed about colour, just that it has service history, smg and sat nav. I have 11k burning a hole in my pocket!ive been to view a few and theyre not as described over the phone or in the ad. id rather get one off someone who knows how to maintain them.

thanks

Have a look in the for sale section. If you can pick one up from a genuine enthusiast that treats it as their pride and joy then there is a much better chance it will have been serviced properly and kept pristine.

I had exactly the same problem as you. Travelled the length of the country on a number of occasions only to find the sellers definition of immaculate is far from the level I would expect.

I also learnt that you need to do as much research as possible and ask the right questions over the phone before setting off. You can do 90% of the work over the phone by checking service dates, where serviced, recalls, etc. BMW also have a number you can call to verify the dates a car has been to them. Not much use if it's been looked after by an independent, but good for checking stuff like the 1200 mile service and any recall work.
