£500 for the parts to convert it. I've decided not to bother!

Google 'Tv in motion' for details.

I doubt any of the premium brand manufacturers will release a plug and play DVB-T unit to replace the analogue units found in E38/E39/E46/E53 range of BMW's as each range has been superseded, twice in some of those!

The Chinese unbranded, el cheapo electronics makers most likely won't release anything plug and play either, as they won't have access to BMW's specifications for building such a unit.

Your alternative is to use an aftermarket quality DVB-T tuner and 'plumb' it into the OEM setup that you have - there's various threads on BMW forums and probably here on how to use the AV input - although the sound is only mono I believe and probably other ways to get the picture to appear.

The all in one replacement Chinese headunits for the E46 have an option for digital TV as well, so look into those. You'll need to put the aerials somewhere though!

Else, stump up that £450-600 on ebay for a second hand oem unit whenever one pops up .. which isn't very often!

The best alternative would be to go full aftermarket, if you don't mind losing the oem 'look' in the dashboard!

Cheers, Dennis!

That site, when you click buy now - gets a problem with their site security certificate - hardly reassuring!

Also, on another forum, they've been very quiet in providing updates to a supposed head unit they've been 'developing' - not a peep from them in over 6 or so months now.. hardly reassuring!

Other forum members who've managed to talk to them, have then posted up that they'd rather look elsewhere - again, not reassuring!

There again, maybe they do provide their solutions to BMW owners who then don't post up their findings on the many BMW forums, perhaps they're all internet shy?!

For the £500 they're asking for the E39/E46 system, you might as well get the oem digital TV module!

It'd be great if the company behind the website actually updated information or released products ...

Cheers, Dennis!

Agree with Mr Cooper here - their website is poor, no updates, notes to say 'don't phone' and the online ordering system gives errors (in addition to security warnings).

They want to charge £500 but instill no confidence. And as mentioned, no one on the forums is singing their praises.

Epic fail imo.

You can buy a set top box from BMW but that means that you have to have a remote. I bought a hybrid tuner which came out on card from September 2004. Look for a tuner out of a Z, X5, X3. They are plug and player.

This might help
