Sounds like a winner!
Why did the engine get replaced?
If it's anything like mine, I suspect it was bearing related! Why did the engine get replaced?
Coincidentally, I've also just put mine up for sale for a bit of a steal due to impending arrival of a V12 Vantage!

Yes, bearing shells, a very common problem on the S65/85 engines. I wouldn't have bought one without a warranty for exactly this reason.Coincidentally, I've also just put mine up for sale for a bit of a steal due to impending arrival of a V12 Vantage!

Congrats on the V12, certainly the engine of choice for that shape Vantage, all the V8s always felt quite slow imho. Fingers crossed Newport Pagnel's finest did a better job than Munich when speccing the rod end bearing tolerences.

Indeed I hope so! I will likely extend the AM warranty given my experience with the M5 and narrowly dodging a very large bill, but all reports are the V12 in the Aston is not particularly stressed and quite solid Congrats on the V12, certainly the engine of choice for that shape Vantage, all the V8s always felt quite slow imho. My E61 Touring is now for sale here on PH. 2 previous owners. New engine. BMW AUC Warranty available to take on.
Hmm rod bearing failure at 80k miles, maybe it isn't just internet hysteria then!Have the seats ever been recollonised? They look in pretty good nick for that mileage.
It's £1500 more than I paid for my 55 plate 54k miles approved used car 13 years ago ,the mondial warranty is a must imho ,if it's transferable and it's currently on a rolling monthly payment you can expect to pay roughly £100-£115 a month and a must imho ,I've done 24k in those 13 years and have claimed over 30k in repairs ,clutch flywheel ,gearbox mechatronics then eventually new gearbox, new manifolds and cats ,1 bank of throttle actuators ,oil pump, oil cooler and a couple of other smaller niggles ,it's currently back at the dealers for a restraint fault ,I've never had to pay for a repair yet ....warranty is key imho on a car that is now what 17 yrs old
Interested to know how the monthly warranty is transferred? I bought my M6 with an annual policy still in place so could easily transfer it, and then swapped to monthly, so I won't get stung with the 60k mile price hike.
Be good to know that if I ever sell, the £113pcm fully comp with roadside and £100 excess could be a selling point.

The monthly insured warranty is not transferable. New owner needs to start a new policy.Be good to know that if I ever sell, the £113pcm fully comp with roadside and £100 excess could be a selling point.

£100 excess ? I don't pay any excess ,it covers the car for everything electrical ( apart from battery) and everything mechanical apart from rubber hoses Be good to know that if I ever sell, the £113pcm fully comp with roadside and £100 excess could be a selling point.

Yeah, the £0 excess option was more and didn't seem worth the extra cost to me. The annual policy was £250 excess before I switched to monthly. The cover is the comprehensive tier.
Fair enough ,had my car now 13 yrs ,I took out the 2nd year extension on an approved used car for I think £450 is ,then went on the rolling monthly 11 years ago at a cost of £97 per month which has now crept up to £117 a month today ...I'd hate to own one with out it tbh, seems we pay in a similar ball park £££

Hi folks, glad this thread is still alive and of use.
I've been out of my M5 for a good few years now so apologies if I am of no help. I wish all you good owners a very happy experience. Such a great car!
