Air Induction kit
Discussion
The general consensus over on Nutz is that the best thing to do is put in a proper panel filter K&N/Green and drill some holes in the airbox (seriously!).
You can tailor the noise by drilling more holes and plugging them if it gets too loud. Also with induction kits they apparently draw in warm air and therefore a small loss in power.

Yes I have read this a few times, maybe I will give it a go.You can tailor the noise by drilling more holes and plugging them if it gets too loud. Also with induction kits they apparently draw in warm air and therefore a small loss in power.

Good! I'll let you report back before I take the plunge.

I get a bit confused with all this heat soak malarkey. At rest or pootling around town, sure, there isn't a great deal of air flow under the bonnet & a cone filter might get to be sucking more warm air. Surely at speeds over 40-50mph or so there can't be much warm air in an engine bay for the filter to suck on, esp if you have vented tsi's or some kind of cold air feed.

Well I took the box off, clean the very dirty filet and drilled 3 25mm holes in the bottom.
It does sound slightly different and I am going to order a new panel filter tomorrow.
Could you post a picture of where you drilled please, I'm unsure as to where I should attack! It does sound slightly different and I am going to order a new panel filter tomorrow.

Take the whole box off and at the bottom is easy to drill holes
