^^ This is the sort of roll bar I would like. It needs to allow the seats to move back fully & give ample protection to my bonce (I'm 6'2") in the event of some roley poleys.

Also, a harness bar/attachment might be advantageous.

Tried P5 as they seemed to have a decent range, but they have stopped supplying them for now.

What do you good chaps advise?

Not to me.

Now, are you capable of adding anything useful?

Agree, and it makes the forum look from any outsiders viewing somewhat immature.

So can we please cease with the innuendo's.

Alan, feel free to re-title, particularly if it dissuades any condescending tools from posting nonsense wink

Thanks Xen, read about them on here before, but was unsure about the seat position issue. Prob worth a further look.

Yeah no probs with seats and I belive the hood will go down no probs with a glass window - something else to think about if you don't get a lane one.

I've heard the mazdaspeed one is overpriced though, even second hand.

Yes.

TR Lane GP roll bar, cost around £170 and you can fit them yourself if you are handy with a spanner. Budget around £200 to get your local garage to fit them. I got mine from EBay, but they are hand made to order so leave plenty of time for delivery. Feels very sturdy, but some say they would prefer a Hard Dog roll bar instead which I think are more expensive.

A bit more than what you paid! Cheaper through their ebay store?

Look at the height compared to the seats. The TD bars are taller than the GP bars wink
The side uprights on JFRs car do look frighteningly close to the headrest in those pictures though. Are they really that close to your head or it it a camera angle thing?

Must be a camera angle, I've never thought it was too close to the seats etc... I haven't got any good pictures to hand, but:

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. I may look into getting one but will have to change insurers as the head of the navy doesn't like roll bars.

Yup, I only called them last week and they said their underwriters do not insure rollbars/cages.

Sit in the car and push your head against the head-rest as hard as you can, especially to the sides. How close to the bars do you get? I have HD Deuce in mine which are further back than that and I still thought I'd better put roll-bar padding on my bars as bar/head contact is just too painful to have as even a remote possibility.

Some great info there, thanks folks.

Been in touch with TR Lane, so progress is being made. New wheel should arrive this week, then onto the other odds & sods after holiday.

Thought it would lower the premium as its a safety feature ?

In some insurers eyes, yes. A badly fitted/unpadded rollcage can do more harm than good if an occupant hits their head on it. Possibly comes down to the underwriters think a driver with a rollcage is going to be going faster and to the limit on the road.

I realise in this case that an Mx-5 would be a lot safer with a cage but their rules are their rules.

For reference, I believe Adrian Flux don't charge any extra for a rollcage.
