I come to the knowledge of PH seeking an answer. Below we have my keyfob, of which I need a spare.

If I buy a spare fob off eBay - provided it's identical in look - will it work with my car once a Mazda dealer has relieved me of £40 to programme it?
Or is it possible for it to look the same, but have the same insides?

I don't really want to spend the money on eBay, only for it to be a really expensive keyring.

I'll check, but the MX5 ones were pretty much all the same. The Mazda6 ones changed halfway through production to a new supplier so the reciever inside the car would be different but on the MX5 it was the same.

The MX5 one is the only one with a boot release and interior sensor button.

Thanks. The problem with buying on eBay is that they just show the fob and occasionally have the Visteon code listed.

I suppose if the MX-5 was is the only model which uses the 4 button fob, I should be ok.
