How much (just for fun)
Discussion
That Euphonic thread has got me thinking. Just how much is my car worth? This is only for fun as there is no way I'm selling the car for a good few years if ever. However, it would be interesting to hear peoples thoughts on a value for my car.
Here are the details:

Problems? Well the front has quite a few stone-chips as you'd expect from a car that's used almost exclusively on B-roads (shh... don't mention any track use
). It is however 100% free from rust and has been garaged overnight from new
It would be interesting to hear what people think the price would be for it as it is and if it was reverted back to stock as far as possible. As I said, this is just for fun as I have no plans to sell.
Go on then, what do you think?

I'd give you 50p mate :P
Seriously though, a stock MK2.5 is worth what 4k? so it's probably worth 4.5 - 5k.
But if you were to sell, I'd start high and hope to chance an enthusiasts arm with it. It's a pretty limited market a FI'd 5 really.
You'd get a LOT more if you stripped it and sold everything off individually.

I think that is the most important point. As a car it's probably actually worth less than an unmodified equivalent to most people unless someone comes along who wants exactly the mods that I have done in which case they might be prepared to pay a bit more for it. Stripping the mods, returning to stock and selling separately will of course make the most money.ApexJimi said:
Nae idea Lazza, but out of interest, what car WOULD tempt you out of the '5?
Good question and one I ask myself every now and then. I'm not keen on any Porsche (not sure why, I know they are good, I just don't want one). Possibly a modded Elise, something like a supercharged 111R, definitely an Evora S though I'd miss having a convertible so I still wouldn't really want to swap. Problem is, anything that might tempt me away is way out of my budget

I have no idea, but looking at all the goodies on it... All it would really need to be perfect (for me) is a roll bar and some 15" wheels (plus it was BRG). If it had them I'd happily pay ~£5500-£6000 (if I had that cash and I was looking for a 5). Unfortunately it would be worth more in parts like you say... But it's sad to break a car (I've never done it).
You don't want a supercharged Elise lazza! Stick with a Honda/Audi powered one. Looking at your current car, you like to mod them... The sky is your limit with a Honda/audi engine strapped down in the back!
Again, I know very little about mx5s... I bought a dog of one thats eating all my mod fund
so please don't be offended if my guesses were low.

It still applies, especially to K series engined cars
6 years on ours has been fairly trouble free, the dreaded HGF was the only thing. £700 to fix, compared to a £900 service this year for the boring Seat busmobile. I'd say Lotus has been the best of them all for garage bills

Now Noble...

I do have a set of 15" wheels (Rota Circuit 10 with 195/50/15 Yoko A048 tyres) and a roll bar (Hard Dog Deuce - so not a tall track biased roll bar but plenty good enough for road and occasional track-day use and looks great).Dift said:

I have a mate with a supercharged 111R - he had the SC fitted, not a factory supercharged car so that would satisfy me for modding. I've driven it on track and yes, I would like one though I think I'd actually prefer an S1. Problem with the Honda/Audi conversions is that they are then very very serious cars and I'm just not that good a driver!JQ said:

Yeah, well that 'company' that built the car also sells counterfeit MegaSquirt stuff so steer well clear either way.http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2004-Mazda-MX-5-Supercharged...
